Located in eastern India, Nuapada, a district in Odisha, is recognized for its rich cultural heritage and agricultural economy. Part of the state's Aspirational Districts program by NITI Aayog, Nuapada faces significant socio-economic challenges that impact the educational and career prospects of its youth.

With a population predominantly reliant on agriculture, Nuapada struggles with limited infrastructure and access to quality educational resources. Transportation challenges and the absence of local coaching centers for competitive exams force many students to travel to other districts, adding financial and logistical burdens. Despite these challenges, the district holds immense potential, with a motivated youth eager to pursue higher education and career advancement.

PARAS India NGO is actively engaged in Nuapada, focusing on empowering the youth through career counseling and motivational sessions. In August 2024, we conducted comprehensive guidance sessions at:

• National College, Nuapada, reaching over 300 students.

• Autonomous College, Khariar, engaging with 100 students.

​

These sessions aimed to equip students with essential knowledge on competitive exams like UPSC, OPSC, OAS, and other government opportunities. Experts from Vision IAS provided insights into exam preparation strategies, eligibility criteria, and personalized guidance to help students navigate the complexities of these exams.

​

Our efforts also addressed the critical need for soft skills development, such as communication and personality enhancement, crucial for students' overall growth. Distinguished speakers, including the District Collector and Deputy Collector, delivered motivational talks, inspiring students to set clear career goals and persevere in their pursuits.

Challenges observed during our work in Nuapada include:

• Lack of Local Coaching Institutes: Students are compelled to seek coaching outside the district, posing financial strain.

• Limited Transportation: Inadequate public transport infrastructure restricts access to educational facilities.

• Socio-Economic Barriers: Many students face difficulties with basic resources, such as document printing and internet access, essential for exam preparation.

Our mission is to bridge the educational gap in Nuapada, empowering students with the knowledge, resources, and guidance necessary to achieve their career aspirations. By fostering a supportive learning environment and addressing socio-economic challenges, we aim to contribute to the district's overall development and improve the quality of life for its youth.
